The Series Three

Aka "NAG"...

Despite using the Defender as my company ride, I longed for a little Landy of my own, and despite some hard times, I managed to save enough to get this little Tax exempt Series three.... bought in 2005 from an Ex-Zimbabwean living in Wiltshire.... Brought "nag" home pretty much bog standard, even the little 600x16 wheels were still in use! Whipped that roof off within a few days, and enjoyed a summer of topless cruising! Over the years there has been a lot of work I've done to this truck.... A fair amount of chassis welding, bigger, better 750x16 radials, painting, up rated parabolic leaf springs, tuned the 2.25 petrol motor sweetly, loads of cosmetic improvements inside, a custom rear deck lid complete with fixing rail etc etc.... But Nag now sits with terminal chassis rot in a barn, started and cleaned most weekends....

Long term, this little vehicle will become my "Landy for life" project, and will benefit from a galvanised chassis, galvanised bulkhead, several new panels, a total re-spray (Colour not decided upon just yet...) new interior, new suspension, reconditioned gearbox, and transfer box, and a rebuilt 200 Tdi motor!

The very design of these vehicles is versatility, and I plan to bring this into the rebuild.... It will have to toggle between daily use, topless, summer cruising, and overland travel and local camping trips, so a easy on, easy off system for the hard top, bikini, topless will be developed....

Watch this space, but don't hold your breath!

And without doubt, happiness is black, red and yellow.... oh, and green on overdrive!

My '72 shorty, all clad out in the Bikini! Currently off the road, but big restoration plans ahead....
Day out in the forest of Dean....
Topless.... an amazing driving experience... shades on, screen down, tarmac flying!
